A Word from Our Chair,

Thank you for your interest in the role of Chief Executive at Scottish Borders Housing Association (SBHA). We operate at the heart of communities across the Scottish Borders, committed to helping people, communities and the local economy prosper by increasing the impact of our homes, services, skills and investments.

We manage over 5600 homes across the Scottish Borders with one dedicated team of over 165 colleagues. Created by tenants for tenants, our focus is on creating growth – expanding services, developing people, strengthening finances, and diversifying our housing offer. We aim to build impact through strong community partnerships – listening to tenants, building on experience and strengthening our financial foundations to enable us to progress into a new era of delivery.

As our current Chief Executive, Julia Mulloy retires in May 2026, having guided SBHA through significant transformation, this is a truly exciting time to join our organisation. We have recently revised our Strategic Plan “Building our Impact by Creating Growth 2025-30” which establishes a clear framework for future delivery building on our positioning as a trusted anchor within the community.

Key priorities will include delivering excellent customer experience, leading the journey to Net Zero through a major retrofit programme, strengthening SBHA’s role in addressing the housing emergency, expanding housing supply, building strategic partnerships, driving digital transformation, and safeguarding financial strength and regulatory compliance.

SBHA seeks a leader who is visible, approachable, and authentic, someone who can build trust, unite people behind a shared purpose, and lead with both courage and humility. While the role is office-based with flexibility, the association recognise that visibility and presence are essential to effective leadership, especially in a community-focused organisation.
